If we had but one hundredth of their peace of mind, we should be very happy indeed.

I lived in London for 15 years.

Served as a Cllr there for 7 years.

Was married there.

Have two children born in London.

I’ve already provided the whole life cycle emissions.

The material waste associated with solar panels is infinitesimal by comparison with coal.

You could always just change your mind based on the extensive evidence I have provided?

One 300W solar panel has whole lifecycle emissions of ~80kg/CO2.

During its 25-30 year design life, it will generate 22,000 kWh of electricity.

Producing 22,000 kWh of electricity from coal would produce ~20 tonnes of CO2.

That’s a funny way of saying ‘thank you for politely taking the time to inform me about relative energy generating potential of silicon and coal, which I directly referred to in my earlier post’.

1kg of silicon used in solar panels helps generate more than 1000 times more electricity than 1kg of coal.

No.

1kg of silicon helps produce roughly 7,500 to 9,375 kWh of electricity over its 25-year lifespan.

1kg coal produces 4-9.1 kWh of energy.

Not a like-for-like comparison, but I’ll give it a go:

1kg of silicon helps produce roughly 7,500 to 9,375 kWh of electricity over its 25-year lifespan. This significantly exceeds the energy required to produce the silicon itself (~100 kWh/kg).

1kg coal produces 4-9.1 kWh of energy.

They were stuck in the Antarctic and had no choice, unless you believe it more humane to allow them to starve to death?
