Today is Holocaust Memorial Day, marking 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. We remember the 6 million Jewish men, women, and children murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators. As survivors grow fewer and antisemitism rises, today is more vital than ever.

Last week I signed the @het.org.uk Book of Commitment, pledging my commitment to marking Holocaust Memorial Day - honouring those who were murdered during the Holocaust and paying tribute to the extraordinary Holocaust survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people today.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

On Holocaust Memorial Day, we remember the six million Jews murdered by the Nazi regime.

We are reminded that we must strengthen our commitment against hatred in all forms and those who seek to harness it for political gain.

Yesterday I met with the Holocaust Educational Trust @het.org.uk to sign their Book of Commitment.

Ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day, we must honour those who were killed, pay tribute to those that survived and commit to fighting antisemitism and hate today.

The PM has launched our plan for cutting waiting times from 18 months today, to a maximum of 18 weeks, something that the NHS hasn’t achieved for a decade.

There's a lot to do, but combined with the Leighton hospital rebuilding plans, I feel very hopeful about the future of our local NHS.

We are overjoyed that our National Chair Mike Katz @mike-katz.bsky.social has been asked by the Prime Minister to join the House of Lords as a Labour peer.

Mike has been at the very centre of the fight to rid the Labour Party of antisemitism. We are proud to have him as our Chair. Mazal tov, Mike!

Proud to support the Fireworks Bill put forward by Sarah Owen MP.

The Bill proposes measures to:
- Reduce firework noise levels to 90db or less
- Restrict the sale of certain fireworks
- Ensure sales are limited to licensed shops

Sad to see Louise Haigh resign as Transport Secretary. Under her stewardship the Department for Transport was truly moving fast and fixing things - from industrial relations to reform of public transport.

I know she will continue to make a valuable contribution as we move forward.
