If AI ends up being the catalyst for modernizing the US electrical grid, I’ll take it. Let’s not lock out renewables though, if we actually want “energy abundance”, “energy dominance”, or whatever the political packaging is. fortune.com/2025/08/14/d...
AI experts return from China stunned: The U.S. grid is so weak, the race may already be over
China is “set up to hit grand slams,” longtime Chinese energy expert David Fishman told Fortune. “The U.S., at best, can get on base.”

When I began talking to ProPublica about using Redica Systems data, back in 2023, I knew it was the right thing to do both for the public and the business. I’m so glad that even after I moved on from Redica, the data is still proving useful.
My latest: Why some potentially contaminated drugs are still allowed into the U.S., despite FDA knowledge of issues like filthy labs and falsified records.

We dug into the data and identified 70 hospitalizations and nine deaths related to these drugs.
NEW: A ProPublica investigation found that for more than a decade, the FDA gave substandard factories banned from the United States a special pass to keep sending drugs to an unsuspecting public.

My favorite was @henryblodget.bsky.social's fresh take on the dangerously manufactured U.S.-China rivalry:
"I actually do not believe that China's an enemy, and I actually liked the fact that our economies were super integrated."

Score! The West Sacramento EV Rechargerie project has already reached its target funding goal. That means this project is getting funded!

This offering is available for 8 more days or until it reaches its maximum target amount, whichever comes sooner.

For homeowners looking to decarbonize, take advantage of the IRA incentives while they last. www.kvpr.org/npr-news/202...
Need help switching appliances from gas to electric? A 'coach' can help
Government incentives for climate-friendly upgrades are confusing to navigate, and it can be hard to find businesses that sell them. So a new industry is emerging to help: the decarbonization coach.

Climate "pragmatists" suggest the energy transition is too expensive. But burning fossil fuels is far more costly. The $87 trillion in damages corporate America alone is inflicting on us is just the start

Switching to renewables is expensive, but it will cost Americans much more to stick with fossil fuels.

Marketing is getting more important for climate tech.
Climate tech companies are scrapping "net-zero" for "energy abundance," pitching themselves as defense tech and waiting patiently for news on critical federal funding. Still, VC funding in the sector is up.

A vibe check from me and @cocojournalist.bsky.social:

The last six months have given the US climate tech sector an extreme case of whiplash, yet venture funding to the industry is on the rise.
