It’s worth noting that voter participation in the primaries was much higher than in the general election, because a Democratic victory was considered such a fait accompli. Here’s the results for the senate primary that year, for example.

I see things like the highlighted bit a lot and it always drives me mad. That makes no sense! Locking people up is super fucking expensive! Started could get the same labor for half the cost just by paying people a normal wage, and then they’d get a portion of it back in taxes on top of that.
