My fingers were a little numb by the time I got back to the parking area, thanks to the wind on the hilltop, but I do like my results.

There are some aspects of the conventions I miss: dedicated times & places to meet cool people with a common interest, chances to play fascinating new games. Ultimately those weren't worth the stress for me, when I could spend that time and money getting out in nature and shooting film.

Ironically, it was after my two least noisy convention experiences that I opted to stop going to them. Finding out that just being relatively quiet wasn't enough to knock down the stress levels for me meant I was better off with other activities.

Sometimes we keep doing things because we expect them to be fun and good without really interrogating our options. I expected game conventions to be a good time, but it turns out they were stressful in a bunch of ways I didn't notice until I was comparing it to something better for me.
