I am glad that the Government confirmed it is investing almost £1million in the National Rural Crime and Wildlife Crime Units, and is bringing in legislation on equipment theft to stop the scourge of rural crime

Farmers are the backbone of our rural economy, and as I made clear at the launch of the NFU Summer Reception, the Government must do all it can to ensure the next generation of farmers can afford to enter, thrive and stay in the farming sector.

I welcomed the Government’s commitment to deliver a 25-year roadmap to ensure farmers get a fair price for their products, but highlighted the continued support farmers need here and now.
