Corgis were bred to drive cattle, in Wales. They have 2 layers of fur, guard hairs on top that are water repellant, and wooly stuff underneath that comes out in clumps in the spring. He hates hot weather.

You lucked out. "Whole Word" was all the rage in the 1990s. Our eldest struggled with reading/spelling so my wife--a future elementary teacher--taught her phonics. I'm shocked this thoroughly debunked BS is still in use. Well, not shocked since education is a fad-driven as MBA programs.

There was performative BS spouted by Presidents Clinton, Bush, because US business wanted it. Almost nobody seriously studying the CCP believed this, especially after Tiananmen. There are still a few who are very disappointed the CCP didn't Gorbachev themselves.
