Militant liberal. Aspiring re-education camp counselor. Filibuster abolition enjoyer.

Look down the game tree. What's at the end of all those off-equilibrium paths? DO NOT REPEAT THIS INSIGHT

This one... Not trying to suggest I was privy to high level conversations, I was just a cog, but JSOC in Afghanistan was pretty small community and I think if the big wigs were super pissed off about something it would have leaked out us regular folk. In reality, everyone was thrilled.

I can tell you from personal experience that this is not true. It wasn't true for ops in Afghanistan, and is even less likely to be true for ops in Pakistan, unless they were worried specifically about getting out before daylight for *political* (not operational) reasons.

This article was published in 2015. I believe in 2017 the government released all (or most) of the contents of the hard drive they took with them. So unless the CIA spent years faking hard drive contents, this one is verifiably false.

... we couldn't go after them. If the ISI or whoever were willing to work with us, I think those people would have been dealt with.

The 2011 vintage Taliban gave exactly zero shits about Osama Bin Laden. Just totally different axes of power here.

Maybe some distant members of the royal family, but idk why they would care about pissing them off.

This one I can speak to a bit more personally: if this is true, I'd be absolutely shocked. There were a number of high-level Taliban guys where we knew exactly where they lived in Pakistan and...

Not to say they don't give polygraphs. They do, because they are sometimes useful for getting people to say dumb shit. But they are aware they don't work lie detector tests.

I don't know what "the Saudis" means here, but the government hated bin Laden and wouldn't be financing him.

Seymour Hersh is a glorified gossip columnist. He'll put almost anything to print.

I can't really say whether any of this is true, but here's some stuff that stuck out to me:

The CIA/military doesn't believe polygraphs work and wouldn't use this as a basis for vetting a source.

These CRIMINALS keep demanding JURY TRIALS to establish whether they are, in fact, CRIMINALS. We must put an end to this

There are Judaism specific lessons in there, but Sarah could stand to read this passage from Dorothy Thompson's Who Goes Nazi

According to Getty these girls are 13 an 15. If you think it's okay for an adult man to have sex with one of these girls you should be stoned to death

I see graphs like this all the time and they always make me laugh. Sometimes a simple curve-fitting exercise is better than your (supposedly) structural model.

The other context in which I have seen this a lot is interest rate or unemployment forecasts.
