Well, champagne was always going to be expensive … we should have seen it coming.

The markets are probably comfortable that 1.5% growth a year from next year on is a reasonably low hurdle to beat.

She’s clearly planning on exceeding growth projections so the pain will never come. And given the initial response of the bond market, she might also get some gains there. Stability itself might just be enough to unlock a bit more growth.

Congrats Torsten. A big achievement.

And that’s before you add in the benefit of millions of people better understanding and trusting the criminal justice system.

But the key point is that juries are there to mitigate the risk around judges having too much power. The balance you’ve described seems to have worked in your case, just as it did in a similar way in the one I did when I was 18.

I assumed they meant £2k per month as the cap … £2k pa captures nearly everyone saving for a pension.

Or were you the foreman🤣

I had a similar experience but …

1) Didn’t you get to choose the foreman?

2) The reason there are 12 jurors is that some will always be duds and unless they are very stubborn, you still have a good chance of getting to verdict.

This is key. Maximisation efforts can bias towards impact plucking the low hanging fruit that already exists. Someone needs to tend to the orchard.

Impact pluckers generally make restricted grants too. The ‘orchard’ would be far better off if they made unrestricted grants (watering the trees)…

I think this has been a particular issue for education which has been systematically undervalued by cost-effectiveness maximisation approaches due to complex outcome sets. Likewise work on institutions which are the other main driver of long term gdp growth.

What’s driving the fall?

Definitely getting the ‘first a trickle, then a flood’ feeling about Trump world. Power visibly flowing away from the White House over the last couple of weeks.

Pretty sure the end will come well before 2028 but it may get worse before it gets better.

To be fair to Musk, Grok’s obvious dangers are doing a lot for the cause of AI safety.

Isn’t this now just a sign of desperation. Is he going down all guns blazing?

Ha! Tbf, that’s the website not me and I used that one so Americans could donate too!
