Middle East peace seems to be lowering the cost of UK government borrowing. Still not that material for the public finances but another week or two like this week and it will be - if yields then stabilise at lower levels.

A partial ceasefire, covering only energy infrastructure benefits Russia far more than Ukraine. They are setting a trap for Zelensky. Either he turns it down (he will) and Trump blames him as an impediment to peace or he weakens Ukraine’s position in the war. Starmer needs to call this out asap.

UK government bond yields have fallen nicely since the budget a month ago. Certainly doesn’t look like the market is too worried about the extra borrowing.
