Make no mistake, Your Party has achieved something today that I had not thought I'd see...

They've made Reform UK look disciplined.

(Admittedly that's on the basis of a) reporting on Zarah Sultana boycotting the first day and b) watching some of the live stream. Maybe the rest was better...)

These guys and their imaginary diplomatic-big-boy pants, when they’re at best semi-useful idiots
🕵️🪆Vladimir Putin has a peculiar recurring gesture former counterintelligence officers flagged: when greeting Viktor Orbán’s delegation, he shakes hands with everyone — but always gives foreign minister Péter Szijjártó a distinct pat on the arm.

He does this only to Szijjártó.

I am impressed that Your Party have somehow managed to communicate via national mainstream media the feeling of being in an interminably feuding local political organizers WhatsApp with so many daily notifications that it's impossible to keep track of the feuds

The only explanation for Zarah Sultana is that she has studied the history of socialist parties, written down every mistake they have ever made, and turned that into a to-do list

Today's 70% fall in net migration to 205,000 was not one of the six stories in BBC ten o'clock news.

Ta massive assymetry in whether rises in immigration and falls in immigration are considered newsworthy by broadcasters

Down by 140k isn't thought to be.

Up by 140k undoubtedly would be.

It's such a bizarre framing. Labour MPs think taking 450k kids out of poverty is putting the country first! That's why they wanted it to happen! It's not because they personally benefit.
Headline on The World at One just now:

"Sir Keir Starmer has denied putting the Labour Party before the country by ending the two-child benefit cap".

Can we please go back to reporting the actual news, not someone's partisan take on it?

The right arguing that any increase in tax is both laser targeted at you & also magic money really shows just how lazy & thick they’ve gotten. They cling to ideas that have failed for decades because they have nothing else

Even @channel4news.bsky.social opens its budget coverage by asking "What will this do for Labour's position in the polls?"

Polls are not even a good predictor of future elections. They're certainly not a test by which budgets should be measured.

We have to break their cold, dead grip on politics.
