And to head off the basement music critics, Im not endorsing the overall quality of these lists or saying that they nailed the rankings perfectly.

I like these lists because they make it really easy to quickly review a strong set of music published this year - much of which I might have missed.

Fantano's lists are currently being published this week, so I can't link each one, but he'll do a bunch like Best Tracks and Best Albums as well as the Worst Tracks and Worst Albums.

There's a little bit of all types of music in there, so if you're interested in EOY lists, it's a good start.

I found this song on Fantano's 'The Needle Drop' YouTube channel, where he does year-end lists each December, and the playlists are then community-submitted to Spotify and Apple Music.

Looking through the comments of the Herberts On Holiday video, it looks like I'm not the only one on this path..

First off - my top song played this past year from my #spotifywrapped was found on a year-end list from December 2023.

So it's very possible to find absolute gems that stick even when you're looking for them.

It's like a little internet museum display - love this example. Wonder what some other good 'locked in time' sites are like this!
