But it takes so much more time and cognitive effort to parse, reverse-engineer, make meaning, and then try to reconnect whatever was submitted to where we should be. And emotional work to craft responses, too. I try not to think about how most likely the comments aren't even read!

I think that's the most challenging part; I take all of it equally seriously even when I know it's AI because maintaining my orientation to students matters to me and because maybe my sincere response will pull someone back if there is a seed of truth or genuine interest in what they've generated.

It has been so, so demoralizing. As a teacher or TA, I truly care and engage with each student and their interests and development. But I also have my own research, family, friends. My time is precious. Overextending myself for people is something I've struggled with, but for LLMs? Pointless misery.
