Is this just a thing where R congressmen wanted to keep getting alcohol and pharma money, but know if they actually let people start getting arrested in mass for weed it’ll be terrible for their electoral odds, so they ask Trump to make an EO that effectively puts it in limbo so they avoid questions

Man I wish I had had you as my APUSH teacher, even though I doubt you’d have been as appreciative of having me as a student 😂. I’m not sure metacognition was even on the radar of my teachers

Teach me your ways - I’m good at the questions but am by far the worst in my league at point allocation and I don’t know why

It’s so bad that last time my wife wanted to watch it we shut every blind and turned off every light in the room and it was still nigh impossible to see what was going on even when the scene takes place in what should be a well lit room. I absolutely hate it

The latest criminal minds reboot on p+ is comically dark, like to the extent I think someone is doing it to make a point? It’s absolutely infuriating

We had our yearly watch of The Holiday yesterday and my main takeaway this year is that Jude Law doesn’t have any singular feature that is 10/10, but a bunch of 6 or 7 out of 10 features that somehow perfectly match each other and make him hot as fuck

Very possible that insurance would not allow an on air talent to actually fire so they didn’t load it

Unfortunately, because I was unfamiliar with working with it I ended up ruining it. Let my gouge get too dull and a big chunk came out of it

I’ve worked with this stuff to make a pen! It’s a really interesting material, if you’re not cutting with a razor sharp blade it will flake like crazy due to the layering. Really fascinating stuff, attached are some pictures of the blank I worked with

And what a boring sprint it was 😞 the really ought to schedule sprints based on the passing capacity of the track, it was basically just one long DRS train for 19 laps

100%! I think it’s an ideal example of what “pop history” can and should be. It’s not an engineering FMEA report on the accident itself, but it’s also not a puff human interest piece. Fantastic work that is very rereadable as well

That said, I also recommend Serhii Plokhy’s work on the topic. His perspective is definitely impacted due to being a nationalist Ukrainian who personally lived through it, but that perspective is helpful in getting more context to how the population experienced Chernobyl and the fallout

One of my favorite books! Higgenbotham really manages to weave a narrative that adequately addresses both the socio/structural problems that led to 4/26/86 while also managing to effectively convey the personal impact to individuals. Most other books on the subject only excel at one or the other
