I’ve worked with this stuff to make a pen! It’s a really interesting material, if you’re not cutting with a razor sharp blade it will flake like crazy due to the layering. Really fascinating stuff, attached are some pictures of the blank I worked with

Here’s the lathe itself and my chisel/gouge drawer in the workbench I built for it. One thing to consider- the lathe itself is probably ~40% of my total initial spend, it’s one of those hobbies that gets significantly more enjoyable when you can afford the right set of tools

That’s just a part of it - I’ve been woodworking for a few years and picked up turning just before Christmas, and with every single one of these there was at least one point where I was convinced it was going to be a total failure
