Sometimes the mist forms just where you need it.

(And sometimes you have to wait for that a while, of course.)

OK, gotta admit. Surprised but shouldn't have been that the House vote might end up near unanimous. My error.

The thermal landscapes are so surreal.....

[The 15-year-old "Louvre detective"] said that he typically reserves his fedora for weekends, holidays, museum visits and special occasions.

I mean, we needed to know, eh?

I guess you could call that stone, and almost yellow.

(It's a spring in the fall.)

It is a symptom of my unrealistic optimism about humanity (and most consider me a pessimist about humanity, fair enough) that I actually had to check if the password thing was true. It appears to have been so.
Every time someone’s like “put that in the louvre,” my head now goes “and then steal it from the louvre, the security password is louvre”

Primary season next year is going to be interesting.

I mean, some of the stone is kinda yellow.

Fisherman's Cone, Yellowstone. I remember making use of what was a very limited area of color in the sunrise.

I've long enjoyed this shot from Grand Tetons, but part of that was just a craft realization (that 2013-level tech allowed me to deal with levels of contrast and hold detail that I couldn't before.). Still, pretty pleasing.

TFW you look at a new follow and wonder if it's an impersonating spammer/scammer or a pedo, and it takes me a second longer to block because I want to file the person accurately.

(Reporting, as is typical of 9 out of 10 top-ten Alexa ranked sites, is useless, of course.)

Pretty much the same location as the last image, a matter of a few minutes earlier, a change in direction and a change in focal length, entirely different mood. Also Oxbow Bend.

If elected president I promise to replace the White House with something mid-century modern.

A bit more Mono lake, some nice cloud forms and colors.

Meanwhile, next year (well, 5/6ths of a year) looks like I'll pay $12,455.80 *more* in health insurance premiums.

Allegedly Dem SMS today asking for funds by telling me that Articles of Impeachment were filed against Trump today. Apparently politi-spammers don't know how impeachment works, or alternately that the House isn't in session.

The Trump administration is adamant that people not take or share photos of the White House destruction, so please keep this photo amongst us.

Not the geology people think of when they think of the Mono Basin (more the Alabama Hills, 100 miles or so south), but it's there at Rattlesnake Gulch, NW side of the basin. (The Aeolian Buttes to the SW also have some of this character.)

Back at the old place, I remember one year finding a hummingbird nest just outside the bedroom door to the backyard. An awkward spot to photograph and not intrude (stood on a dresser with the screen door cracked.) I got such joy from watching the whole process unfold.

Strokkur, a wonderful, frequently-erupting geyser from the field that gave us the word geyser.

Little Lakes Valley in the Eastern Sierra, I think perhaps Long Lake, near sunrise. Among many other things, I loved the way the shaded tree line resembled a seismograph trace.

The killer features for me in the latest iOS are phone screening and SMS filtering. Not having to deal with the flood of incompetent political and other spam (via voice and text message) is amazing.

Just another East Greenland fjord. Memorable to me in part because handheld in very late dusk.
