Yes, a talented artist. Also a graceful, thoughtful, and civil activist. Class act all the way. We need more like him.

What a privilege it was to discuss the energy transition and a bipartisan strategy for making progress on #climatechange with someone I so admire: Jennifer Granholm. Thank you Secretary and Governor Granholm for spending a few hours with me at USC today.

Okay, #DOGE, you asked for it so let’s talk about government waste. Can you guess which US industry makes TRILLION$ in profit, but receives HUNDREDS OF BILLION$ in government subsidies — subsidies which economists and policy advisors in your own party agree are a waste of money? Here’s a hint:

The budget plan just passed by the house would do this. The vast majority of the proposed cuts would be to Medicare and Medicaid. Another $2.8 Trillion (with a T) would be added to the deficit.

Seeing more and more important meetings being cancelled. Also having many speakers from other countries cancelling previously planned visits to and talks in the U.S. As an international scholar working in a field that requires international collaboration, this pains me so much.

Wisdom is everywhere in #LosAngeles. You just need to keep your eyes open.

Was humbled to have dinner tonight with someone I’ve admired for a really long time: Charley Boorman. Watching Charley ride so smoothly and skillfully in Long Way Round cemented my love of motorbikes. He’s a charming and kind fellow, just as I imagined he would be.

The best thing about academic conference travel? Amazing meals with great friends. Like this one with Michael Siegrist at Otoko x Watertrade in Austin, TX.

What a privilege to work with this talented team of @uscdornsife.bsky.social researchers: @aitormarcos.bsky.social and @jailbirdjenna.bsky.social. Jenna was presenting her work on risk perceptions and behavioral responses among people living near one of the most contaminated sites in the USA.

My friend and colleague, Jenna Blyler, painted this portrait of our little guy, Ridley. We call this paining “The Riddler”. Thank you, Jenna!

After seeing it from the air on many flights to and from L.A., I wanted to check this thing out for myself. So, I took a roadtrip to the Nevada desert for a closeup look at the #CrescentDunes #SolarEnergy Project. Check out my video diary: youtu.be/9x_SvM2CaIs?...
