#BOTD Ingrid Pitt in a scene from "The Vampire Lovers", wearing a *very* sheer nightgown, descending the stairs, and leaving one of her gorgeous victims behind, sprawled on the floor.

Here's another photo of Ingrid in the same costume, but wearing black boots this time. I'm not sure, actually, what color boot she ended up wearing in the movie. Note that her boot-toes are scuffed - which actually makes sense for late-war Germany where new clothes would have been hard to obtain.

More Ingrid Pitt, #BOTD, this time, my favorite promo photo from her classic "The Vampire Lovers". Ingrid is on the far right, standing atop a coffin with four other Hammer beauties, including the equally legendary Madeline Smith and Kate O'Mara.

"Countess", say you?

She might have been trying on footwear for her role in "Where Eagles Dare", as she wears what might be that very pair as part of her costume.

Another great picture of the dazzling Ingrid Pitt, #BOTD, from the same photo shoot as the one with all the shoes. Here she's trying out white go-go boots.

#BOTD: Ingrid Pitt, regarded by many as the sexiest and most beautiful of Hammer Studios's legendary team of gorgeous actresses.

I was wondering why I was seeing so many Gene Tierney pictures today, then I checked her bio and realized it's her birthday today. #BOTD, dazzling classic-film beauty Gene Tierney.

If That Man thinks he can intimidate the opposition by ordering DOJ/FBI to investigate the ties of prominent Democrats to Jeffrey Epstein...well, he's being, shall we say, optimistic. We WANT everyone who's availed themselves of Epstein's services brought to book.

I present this handy-dandy image of Samuel Johnson as a fitting reaction meme:

#BOTD: Jean Shrimtpon, along with Twiggy the most iconic supermodel of the 1960's. She got in some trouble in Australia, as recounted below, for wearing a skirt that was FOUR INCHES (gasp!) over her knees.

Gentlemen, I feel it appropriate to inform all of you that I am a stan of the Iron Marshal.

@nopipbutcpip.bsky.social came by just now to bring me some extra bunny stuff and got to meet Daisy as well as renew his acquaintance with Redmond. Daisy, who may be even more boisterous than my first REW Fernando, was on her best behavior for our visitor. #bunnysky #rabbits #bunnies

Maybe this will help if you don't already have it in your files? I just found it on Reddit.

Here's one *I* haven't seen before - it's from Alamy, so watermarked. This was obviously taken at the beginning of her career in the late 1880's when she was still a teenager, judging from the hairstyle and dress; also, VERY unusually for her, she's *not* smiling.

He was the father of well-known Edwardian-era actress Ellaline Terriss (who, until the Falklands War of 1982, was probably the most famous personage to come out of those islands). I've always thought she was one of the prettiest stage stars of the era, with a particularly nice smile.

Of course, nothing can compare to the famous image of Helen Chandler about to get nibbled on by Bela Lugosi. That's sexual surrender if ever I saw that expression:

I'm really not kidding about the "monster game" part. This picture, showing the game maps laid out on a floor, makes it look as big as SPI's and GDW's/GRD's legendary super-size World War II igames, "War in Europe"/"War in the Pacific" and "Europa" respectively.

#BOTD: British film/TV star and author Diana Dors (originally named Diana Mary Fluck, so it's pretty obvious why she availed herself of a stage name!) She dated noted ethologist Desmond Morris when they were teens, and was at one time married to Richard Dawson of "Hogan's Heroes".

#BOTD: Joan Fontaine (10/22/1917 - 12/15/2013). Shown here in a promo still for 1948's "The Emperor Waltz", a musical set in 1900's Vienna in which she starred opposite Bing Crosby.

She had a widely varied film career aside from her outings with Groucho and the boys; one of her more unusual roles was an uncredited cameo as Duchess Sophie of Hohenberg in the Kay Francis movie "Storm at Daybreak" (released the same year as "Duck Soup", 1933).
