If only I had the energy and time to explain to them how these are all part of the reasons why their grandkids can’t afford to live near them and their municipal taxes are too high

I’ve only ever gotten a response by moving to the next car and signaling to the operator that someone is smoking. Sometimes they’ll even come back and confront the perpetrator instead of speaking on the intercom

IL legislastors also need to TAKE HOUSING AFFORDABILITY SERIOUSLY:

1) strengthen the AHPAA. Penalize towns that don’t comply.
2) reform zoning statewide. Don’t let greedy cities say “neighborhood character” is reason to deny workforce housing.
3) consolidate some excessive municipalities (1,300!)

If you live in any of these towns, call your mayor/administrators and tell them you’re outraged at their inaction.

If they don’t pull their weight and allow more affordable housing, costs will continue to go up. People will have to move further away. Communities will be stripped of their character.
