Vaguely related. I bought this book by Odgers way back in ‘93. The other one perhaps ‘97. #histbookchat

#histbookchat. Saw this slim tome off the plot this afternoon. Katja Hoyer mentioned the speech at either WHWF Drei or Vier and thought I’d like to learn a bit more. Interesting book about a notorious speech. Some surprises, for me anyway.

For most of this week Sindy has been staying with me while my sister redecorates. My home is very quiet without Sindy.

Post a book you love from the 80s. No explanations, no reviews, just covers.

Delivered today. I took advantage of @yalebooks.bsky.social price promotion. I know a little about these events and would like to learn a bit more. A couple of books to see off before I get to this.

It’s Germany’s Volkstrauertag today. Honouring all victims of violence and oppression across the globe. Clearly more complicated for Germany. The Neue Wache, Berlin. (Not my photograph)

Before zooming home I popped into Glasgow for a coffee. Spotted this as yet unfilled book vending machine. And some iron truisms on the wall.

#histbookchat. Picked this up today. I recall Katja Hoyer talking about the infamous speech at either WHWF drei oder vier. Couple of books to get off the plot first.

Top pod as always. And the promise of more Christopher Clark WNTL? Some book recommendations, good books. Bear in mind I am neither historian nor academic. #histbookchat

I was looking for something else and I found this photograph. It’s in the German town of Soest. A memorial to the 1300 civilians killed in Allied bombing.

I honestly don’t know. I’ve got this pic. More comments in the Alt.

I was asked elsewhere to recommend some books on the Vietnam War. I went with this lot as a starter pack. #histbookchat

Picked up these 3 when down south. I got Frank McDonough’s book at his book launch in Hatchards. Great evening. The TBR pile is teetering. #histbookchat.

Got called to do some emergency lifting heavy things at my sister’s house. A wee pic of my best pal in the world.
