Today it was my pleasure to take students from my interdisciplinary Portland State Engineering class (Sensing the Earth) to the #USGS Cascadia Volcano Observatory ( #CVO). They monitor 8 high risk and many more volcanos in the PNW.

Check in on friends &!family in federal government &!academic jobs. Many are not OK. Many work for agencies that just lost 10-30% of their staff and are going to be expected to do all the things.
Those let go were just starting out. Many moved cross county for dream jobs carrying debt.

Compelled to go on the record- Trump’s comments attributing the DC plane crash to DEI hiring initiatives is nauseating. Anyone given an opportunity that adjusts for systemic American exclusion of qualified individuals has the necessary skills. They just had to overcome a shit load more of barriers.
