#sewsky is the right one, and plenty of small businesses! stone mountain and daughter is my fave for fabrics, but i hear good things about Wawak for supplies. :-)

oooh fabulous! my sister just became a nurse - what fabric do you recommend?

os - i recommend starting with ‘100 acts of sewing’ patterns shirt no 1 and pants no 1 - super basic, great starting point. once you get those you can start doing modifications and experimenting

it’s so worth learning!! there are definitely some easier patterns/skills to start with, and some much much harder. start easy so you don’t get discouraged and find a local teacher if possible for basic machine use. youtube has tons of resources too. you can do it!!

I mostly use my 45, but I also have a 28 in my travel kit. I’m not sure I really have a preference 🤷‍♀️

rotary cutter! my poor fibro hands couldn’t do a lot of scissor cutting - if it weren’t for the rotary cutter i’d have quit. and my iron, though my teenage self is rolling her eyes.

nasal rinsing! Neilmed has an easy system and it’s in most pharmacies. flushes out the infection and makes it easier to breathe.

it’s a great cheater method if you just want to get something done 😛

i have a janome and i lurve it and use it way too much 😃 (ie, a double fold hem would look better, but a serged hem folded up once requires no measurements nor ironing so…..)

Thank you! The tie threaded pretty easily with a big safety pin. The tricky part (since I self drafted) was figuring out how to create the channel and opening at the side seam, but i think it worked!

Oh yeah, I absolutely see that. 😅

Here’s the new plan:

I definitely see why you bought it - it’s cute and bold! But I also see why it’s not for your wardrobe. Destash time! fabric swaps are great for this - or donate to a reuse store near you? I also think @nachoanns.bsky.social accepts small donations, if you don’t mind paying for shipping.
