Voting is at the heart of Democracy and I want to thank everyone who voted on Tuesday. I also want to congratulate everyone who ran for City Council and School Committee. Putting yourself out there takes courage, and every candidate deserves respect for stepping up to serve their community.

I'm a semi regular public commenter and I agree with this wholeheartedly. Cambridge comment is less skewed than many other cities (at least in regard to homeowner status), and less skewed than it used to be because renters here have organized - and it's still pretty bad!

That’s not to say Cambridge shouldn’t listen to its residents. But when public comment becomes a ritual stage for a tiny, unrepresentative minority, it’s worth asking whom that process really serves.

I'm a semi regular public commenter and I agree with this wholeheartedly. Cambridge comment is less skewed than many other cities (at least in regard to homeowner status), and less skewed than it used to be because renters here have organized - and it's still pretty bad!
Chris and JHawk did excellent civic work last night and gave who knows how many Cambridge candidates, campaign staff, and volunteers a couple extra hours of desperately needed sleep.

Anyway if you have the option to vote for local candidates who will actually work on the rent issue, please do that, even if you’re not currently renting. And then hold them to their campaign promises.

I can't stress this enough: in ranked choice systems like Cambridge has, your best bet at getting the council & school committee you want is to rank candidates in order of your genuine preference.
That means you should give your #1 vote to the person you most want to win.
