Just detach any expectations. You won’t find familiar horror film tropes. This is pure childhood fear of the dark. There’s a moment with a ‘parent’ sitting on the edge of a bed that’s sooo scary I thought I might die.. Having said that, you will quite likely watch it and utterly hate it!

It’s almost not a horror film. It’s more pure unfiltered nightmare. Don’t expect any familiar horror tropes. Practically nothing happens. It’s all atmosphere.

You need to get the viewing conditions right. I watched it alone, at 2am, in bed, on my iPad, with headphones. If you see it at a cinema with people around I don’t think it will land well at all. It is a solitary experience. That way you feel the fear of being completely alone and frightened.

Suffice to say, his goolies feature.

95% of people who have seen it HATED it. I know why they did. I’m in the 5%.

Hope you find it. Suspend all preconceptions and expectations. Abandon hope of any familiar tropes. If it works for you, it’s because it is the very fabric of fear. I’m tempted to say that it doesn’t even qualify as a horror film. It’s too frightening for that. It’s pure mainline nightmare.
