Been a while since I've worked closely w/ CanCanCan and maybe I forgot or hadn't paid attention, but for any given auth check, it instantiates the ability class and runs all queries necessary to perform auth checks for *any* object, whether needed for the particular check or not.

I've had this super weird idea for a while...could I build a useful/functional Rails app that doesn't use any words in it's UI? I just registered wordless.fyi and I'm thinking about trying to build it this weekend...should I livestream it?

Yesterday I was dealing with a set of system tests that always passed individually, but failed running all. I switched from headless Chrome to headed (headful?) to observe and noticed the "Save address" dialog was popping up on some form submissions.

When I'm working with a UI element that may or may not be a link, instead of using link_to_if, I usually prefer to create a wrapper method that accepts a block and handle the conditional check there.

This morning I couldn't think of the name of the presence_in method from Active Support. But I knew exactly where I'd used it in an ApplicationController from a project I was working on 7 years ago, because the situation was the same.
