Appears 4g uncle William had impulse control issues. Accused of "seduction" in the summer of 1874, he fled to damn near Dubuque, Iowa from Kent County, Michigan. Dragged back by a deputy weeks later. I'm pretty sure he did not, in fact, wed Ms. Annis. #genealogy #ancestry #familyresearch #history

Alleged Seduction.
Ella Annis, a maiden 26 years old, now living in the township of Cascade, accused William Van Amburg of seduction. William went away some five or six weeks ago, and quietly dropped down in Jo Daviess County, Illinois, there to await news of further developments here. Of course letters came from him and went to him, and the officers found out his whereabouts. Ella was anxious that he should be brought back to her, and the proper papers being obtained Deputy Sheriff Steketee started after him Wednesday night, 22d. He was gone about forty-eight hours, traveled about 600 miles, and last night arrived in the city with William. William is in jail awaiting an examination, or his wedding, calamities that do not seem to dampen his spirits at all.

Continuing research on 5g gf Orleans Spaulding to prove Michigan pioneer lineage. Thought he snuck in just months before statehood, but now know he lived here several years prior. Here he is about three years before, paying $50 for the 40 acres he patented. #genealogy #ancestry #puremichigan

OTD 120 years ago, The Hamilton [Ontario] Spectator reported the death of my 5g aunt Sara Barber. She died the day before. The daughter of a wool, tobacco and vinegar merchant, she married Benjamin E. Charlton, a prominent Hamilton citizen who served as mayor. #genealogy #familyresearch #ancestry

Looked up the family: Two of the kids fell to diphtheria and the infant died of pertussis, two of the three maladies covered by the DTaP shot. #genealogy #ancestry #history
