I don’t have great ideas for reform beyond the usual stuff like RCV, but I do think it’s important in this discussion to distinguish between the question of whether his actions followed the rules and whether his actions were anti-democratic. I think both can be true at the same time

I can’t say whether insiders knew that he wasn’t running again, but he did claim in his interview with Rich Miller that his team only started circulating petitions for his CoS two days before the deadline, which you could interpret as an attempt to keep it under wraps capitolfax.com/2025/11/04/c...

I can’t say whether insiders knew that he wasn’t running again, but he did claim in his interview with Rich Miller that his team only started circulating petitions for his CoS two days before the deadline, which you could interpret as an attempt to keep it under wraps capitolfax.com/2025/11/04/c...
It’s a disappointing setback but I wouldn’t bet on anti-bike politics winning in the long term. Projet Montreal had been in power since 2017, they were bound to fall victim to Covid incumbent backlash. MTL is a lot further along than Toronto on culture+infra and I think that will be hard to change

Looks like a typo in the address in the CCAO’s database is causing the Google Street View API to resolve to a theoretical but nonexistent address in Lakeview that someone used to tag this photo! The Evanston address should not have the “N” street directional in it, as far as I can tell

To be fair to the Johnson admin, I think the Housing and Economic Development Bond was a clear signal that they do not want to have TIFs anymore

If you get a chance in the future, can you ask him specifically how the Broadview security perimeter does not constitute “establishing a security or traffic perimeter surrounding [immigration enforcement] operations”? bsky.app/profile/lumb...
In addition to being morally repugnant, this is so blatantly, ridiculously against Illinois state law.
And it's an understatement to say it's a massive disappointment that @govpritzker.illinois.gov is allowing ISP to participate in protecting ICE's concentration camp.

Each property in Cook County gets reassessed once every three years, so the last year the City of Chicago was reassessed was 2021, just as the Covid housing market was heating up. These increases are still large, but it’s more accurate to think of them as 3-year increases rather than 1-year
