My favorite ornaments are the ones made by my mom. She used real egg shells and old Christmas cards. They bring back so many memories! #Christmas #gardengrewpeas #crafts

Before 8:00 A.M. a man in a hazard suit was spraying the field near our house. A few crows flew over and disappeared. One house finch paused briefly on the trellis. There are usually dozens of birds in our yard. They know when to leave. #gardengrewpeas #supportorganicfarms

A bit of our small-town Christmas Parade. There were Boy Scouts, high school bands, and floats pulled by tractors. The guy with a shovel and a pail who followed the horses, got a huge round of applause. #gardengrewpeas #Christmas

We have a sunflower blooming. Sugar, our cat defended the garden valiantly all summer, and finally killed the kingpin gopher in October. No plants have gone missing since. #sunflowers #gardengrewpeas

Good morning, from the garden. Those are tomato cages, nested together in the background. The persimmon was the centerpiece for the bird’s Thanksgiving feast. #gardengrewpeas #gardening

Almost done with my part of the meal. The pumpkin pies spent the night on my dresser - far away from Sugar the cat. Wishing you all a #HappyThanksgivingDay! #gardengrewpeas

We had a beautiful time at the Monarch butterfly sanctuary yesterday. When we went a few years ago, hundreds of monarchs hung in clumps from the trees. This time, the docent estimated there were 88 butterflies in the grove. Just 88. 😢 They still dazzled us. #butterflies #gardengrewpeas
