No aurora borealis tonight in Tulsa, and I completely missed it yesterday. Tried to set up and be ready this evening on the roof, get some height to see the northern sky in my neighborhood. Canon Eos 2000D isn’t designed for this, but it can see more than I can. 🔭

In the lower left, a line is being formed by some sort of object in flight, a plane, satellite, meteor—unknown. It had been folded so many times that the words were starting to disappear under the wrinkles, just like her face, and who she had been. She had read it countless times. By now she had memorized the letter's entirety, but it still carried all its weight. That was the most important part; the vulnerability had to be present, had to be real. She might be Madam Backlund to the thrill-seekers waiting outside, but in here, in this moment and late at night, all by herself, she was a lonely widow named Phoebe, and she lived in a haunted house. The door downstairs flung open, and she heard the nervous chatter and the piling-in of feet. Slowly inhaling, she listened for them to settle down, read the notice on the pedestal in the foyer, and sign the registry. She folded the letter carefully and slid it back into the enve-lope. Straightening her blouse in the bureau mirror, she placed the paper under the empty ringboard of her jewelry box. Without a sound, she stepped into the hall and stopped at the top of the stairs outside her bedroom door. Of the six people gathered below, four were men, and one of them noticed her first.
