If only we had some kind of person whose job it was to investigate the news and present a balanced set of challenging facts. We could call them something like “journalists”. The whole craft could be called a cool name like “journalism”.

Columnists and politicians are no more expert than anyone else unless they happen to have worked in the area (columnists never have). They are paid to pretend to have expertise. From interactions I've had with some in my own area of expertise, I have seen this first hand.

I'd be rather more concerned by the infiltrators from an opaquely funded right-wing lobby group that call themselves Blue Labour whose actions are indistinguishable from people wanting to hand the next election to the NF party.
