This French Marist missionary, who had been in the New Hebrides since 1961, had amassed a large number of traditional and historical objects. Many thanks to Frédéric Petit for the private tour of this exceptional place.

The inhabitants of these southern islands claim a customary link with Matthew and Hunter Islands, which they refer to as Umaenupne and Leka, among other names. We thank the government for organizing this cultural event, essential to better understanding the Vanuatu perspective.

The meeting took place in a positive and respectful atmosphere. It implements the commitment made by the President of the Republic and the Vanuatu Prime Minister at the Élysée Palace on July 23. Discussions will continue in Paris in early 2026.
