Among our micro-projects is the installation of dozens of solar lamps in villages without electricity, such as here on the islands of Efate and Malekula. Light means safety for women, study for children, more activities in the evening—and clean, sustainable energy.

"Small is beautiful." Alongside large-scale structural projects that take years to complete, we develop micro-projects that directly address the immediate needs of communities. Because impact is measured first and foremost by what improves people's lives.

Eager to better understand Vanuatu, its nature, and its culture, our colleagues Benoît Guidée and Nicolas Baudouin also took the time to tour the island of Efate and visit the Utlalo Foundation, which houses the museum of Father Jean Rodet (1931-2022).

The first kava is a must for any trip to Vanuatu. Benoît Guidée and Nicolas Baudouin tried it for the first time, surrounded by enthusiasts and professionals, and with great curiosity. That evening, at the residence, we enjoyed an excellent kava from the island of Malekula.

During a visit to Port Vila, Benoît Guidée, Director for Asia Pacific at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and his delegation (Nicolas Baudouin, Francois Sow) met with representatives of the French community at the residence—an essential exchange to inform our actions.
Ce missionnaire mariste français aux Nouvelles-Hébrides depuis 1961 avait amassé un grand nombre d'objets traditionnels et historiques. Un grand merci à Frédéric Petit pour la visite privée de cet endroit exceptionnel.

The inhabitants of these southern islands claim a customary link with Matthew and Hunter Islands, which they refer to as Umaenupne and Leka, among other names. We thank the government for organizing this cultural event, essential to better understanding the Vanuatu perspective.

On the occasion of the maritime boundary negotiations, the delegation led by Benoit Guidee, including Nicolas Baudoin and François Sow, met with customary chiefs from Tanna, Aneityum, and Futuna, and attended traditional cultural performances (stories, songs, and dances).

On November 20-21, France and Vanuatu held their first round of negotiations in Port Vila on maritime delimitation and sovereignty over Matthew and Hunter Islands. The French delegation was led by Benoît Guidée, and the Vanuatu side by Deputy Prime Minister Johnny Koanapo.

Les habitants de ces îles du Sud revendiquent en effet un lien coutumier avec les îles Matthew et Hunter, qu’ils nomment notamment Umaenupne et Leka. Merci au gouvernement d’avoir organisé cette séquence culturelle, essentielle pour mieux comprendre la perspective vanuataise.
