One of these has two journos on it that used to reside in Hong Kong - they *should know* better - how many bamboo scaff fires did they see in their time here? Also: ever seen steel scaff on the 35th floor bending in 200km/h typhoon winds? Nah me neither mate. Seen bamboo do it but… #Mangkhut

“Bamboo always contains a lot of moisture regardless, and it prevents fire and is harder to burn because it has water, so the bamboo would have to be extremely dry [to ignite]…” and it’s not just ‘cultural’ - ever seen how fast bamboo gets thrown vertically to build?

Hong Kong tower fire disaster: bodies are still being retrieved from the buildings, but there is now more clarification on where the blame is being focused. We are yet to hear any formal comment on how the fire started. www.scmp.com/news/hong-ko...

No word on the cause, but police have arrested staff from the engineering company who installed foam in the buildings, “which led to the incident and caused the fire to spread rapidly…”

Seems odd no-one in Hong Kong has thought of how high firehoses need to reach from the ground to put out a fire in a high rise tower. Seems weird no-one thought this drone tech in Shenzhen could be useful in situations like this. youtube.com/shorts/EVQcD...
