Togepi trying to make sure I don't get distracted from the fact that it's #caturday

Assuming that's Pacific time (likely given the race was still ongoing at 6 PM NYC time), the race had been called 30 minutes prior

The bottom left of the sign in this Yesterland photo looks suspiciously bright considering the direction of the lighting in the rest of the shot, but it's hard to tell for sure

We had to put Togepi in a onesie because the cone and the donut both did not work.

Onesie worked great, though, and it was super cute

Finally tried on this year's Halloween costume 🎃

Here she is at 2 different points in her history.

The big "saddle" is how she originally came; it held fuel and water for her boiler. Pine Creek removed it in the early 1950s and built a tender instead, which is how she came to Disneyland.

She has a preserved sister: trains.nute.ws/0-4-0/Rarita...

Fun fact:
On Sunday strips, some newspapers cut off the title panel (plus the adjacent panel). That's why you get 2 jokes like this - the header panels may be missing.

Watterson hated this and eventually secured an exemption for C&H and C&H _only_.

You can see the difference in later Sunday strips

Specifically, this Mothman

Togepi has lost the brain cell this #caturday

After a bit this guy came out to make sure that there were no slackers in the crowd 🤣

(Alt: A ripped bald man steps to the head of the mosh pit and uses an imaginary whip to keep the crowd rowing in time to the music. Pan up to the lead singer pretending to French kiss the guitarist)

Got the video from my fiance of one of my favorite parts of the show - when everyone in the mosh pit collectively decided to pretend to row a boat together

(Alt: A scene from an Alestorm concert. The mosh pit in the crowd has all sat down and is miming rowing. They are chanting "ROW!" to the music)

Finally, the main event - Alestorm!

They were great; nice long set that hit basically every song I wanted to hear including my favorite (P.A.R.T.Y.: youtu.be/c967usVxYq0).

The only one I really missed that they didn't play was Tortuga, but Tortuga is a bit divisive so I understand why they didn't

Never listened to Gloryhammer much but honestly I get it now

First opening act - Glyph! Honestly really good, short half-hour set but they seemed like a newer band.

They're a good reminder that metal folks are all goobers since their bit is that they're dragon hunters from outer space.

They ripped a dragon to shreds live on stage

Our view of the stage as we get settled in

Seeing Alestorm at the House of Blues!

In addition to what the other guy said, there are other AppViews; e.g. deer.social.

You log in there and hit this checkbox, then you can disable Bluesky's moderation entirely
October 4, 2025 at 7:30 PM
You shouldn't need to make anything new at all?

Using deer.social as an example:
1. Log in using your Bluesky username/password
2. Go to settings and turn on this checkbox

Now you can see and talk to people on Bluesky, but you aren't using Bluesky's moderation.

I'm not sure where I'm losing you?

Ah, yes, here it is - seems to be used for automated testing of Epic's Horde stuff
October 3, 2025 at 1:26 AM
I was Dr. Frank-n-Furter for a production my high school put on! (No idea how we got away with that, we modified it a bit but even so)

To this day I still do the choreography and sing my parts when the songs come on haha

I honestly think a spooky Jungle Cruise is something that would have legs, the jungle monster can be quite scary at night in the dark
September 24, 2025 at 7:17 AM
Went to LA Union Station with @group160ntrak.org and ran some model trains!

Sadly had issues with one of my locomotives and half my cars, but that's just realism, right?
