(He/they Pan/queer) Herein lies writing, reading, and fountain pens. Pretty much in that order. With a splash of tea.

Tonight, for the second time ever in my life, I baked a cake. It’s a belated birthday cake for my mom, and it’s her favorite: oatmeal cake. I was worried I wouldn’t get it right this time, because I figured the first time was a fluke. However, this one is also delicious.

I made a copper ring! It took me three tries to solder it, but that’s part of learning a new skill.

I’ll write up a blog post this coming week on my first two classes. I’m enjoying this. #jewelry #handmade

The other night I inked up my Lamy LX fountain pen with Lamy Dark Lilac 2024 edition. Every time I use this ink I’m reminded how much it sheens and how much I do not want anything that sheens more than this. The nib crud and sheen staining on this is intense enough.

Today was my first jewelry class, and I made a copper thingamabob! It’ll be either a pin or a pendant once I clean it up and learn how to solder a pin or a loop on the back.

I have process photos and I’ll write up a blog post about the experience. I’m really going to enjoy this.

Caught a good bit of sunset on clouds when I was talking to dinner with a friend last night.

Fountain Pen Day has fallen on N7 Day.

So, to celebrate:

“I’m Commander Shepherd, and this is my favorite stationery store on the Citadel.”

And bonus Lamy Dark Lilac (2024) sheen photos.

Played around with some tiny metal beads and some smaller rings to create a smaller version of my ribbon earrings. They’re cute! #chainmail #jewelry #handmade

The 75ml bottle of Diamine 160th Anniversary Ink really has the heft of a small brick. I forget how heavy it is because it doesn’t have the width of the Pilot Iroshizuku bottles, for example, but it’s a stout bottle all by itself.

Oh. Ohhhhh I like this. I think a 24mm macro lens is about to become my best photography friend. #chainmail #jewelry

My latest finished commission is a trans pride bracelet. Truly, I love making these. #pride #chainmail

I made the video. I don’t hate it, so I’m running with this. (Also, voice reveal, I suppose?)

Seriously, though, this is important because once I make a bracelet it is sized. I want people to be able to wear a commissioned piece from the moment it arrives. #chainmail #jewelry

I love Pennonia ink bottles because they’re solid, heft pieces of glass. It’s like the polar opposite of a Robert Oster bottle. The color is very pretty, too.

I’m always in favor of backgrounds that aren’t plain white. It’s why I used a light tan fabric with a sheening finish for mine.

The janky photo setup worked! I think I need to get a 40mm macro lens with an autofocus, but I’m making this work for now. #jewelry #chainmail

I have a softbox I bought more than 10 years ago when I started out shooting jewelry. It wasn’t cooperating.

I opened the blinds, stuck a piece of paper over my desk lamp, and started taking photos. I’ll edit them in 20 minutes and I hope they’re good.

Felt janky, but if it works it works.

For example, this looked acceptable on the camera monitor and it’s okay here or on my phone, but on a computer monitor the focus is all out of wack.

However, I got some decent shots and it’s all For The Aesthetic on the website anyway. #jewelry #chainmail

#LGBTQWriteAThon

It’s my group of queer friends, queer writer comrades, and the stationery community. I got to see friends at the writers conference a couple of weeks ago and it helped me feel better. I had dinner with a friend last night and it was great. And y’all on here are great. Thank you!

Oh the things we do in the fountain pen hobby.

The ink level in the bottle was too low for the nib, or just the converter, to draw anything. I got out my Inkmeiser and a blunt syringe to ink my new pen. I don’t like syringe-filling a converter because then the nib isn’t primed. So I did this.

I made this bracelet last week and I’ve fallen so in love with this weave that I just spent another $100 on rings so I can make more in different colors.

I’ve got so many beads I’m comping at the bit to use. This is exciting!! #jewelry #chainmail

Florence + the Machine is bringing the energy I need for work this morning. Because, yes, everybody scream.

I’m revising the first four chapters of my novella, True Hate’s First Kiss, today and I’m using a Jinhao 92 inked with Sailor Irori.

The 92 is a Graf von Faber-Castell knockoff that’s the closest I’ll get to the Bentley pens. The EF nib is nail-hard, which I love, and Irori is a lovely warm red.

New fountain pen day! It’s a Ranga Zayante from Peyton Street pens in a gorgeous blue, grey, and black ebonite. This has a cursive smooth italic medium nib, and I love it. I’ve never used a smooth italic before and this won’t be my last.
