Six weeks of good productivity, and the seventh week it goes into the tank. Well, all I need to keep in mind is to keep things trucking for the next two and a half weeks and I'll be good to go for my writing goals this year. With that, I'll review the numbers. I was proud of my productivity this week. Not because it was particularly good, but because I was falling behind at one point. My official Writing Life blog, which I post on the first weekend of each month, is my monthly newsletter discussing my upcoming writing projects, things having to do with writing, and what’s been going on with me in my corner of southeastern Iowa along the Mississippi River.

Getting close to meeting my goals, and a project I didn't even have in mind at the start of this year is rapidly progressing.

Back at the end of August this year, when I was getting ready for the upcoming school year, I was very much nervous about doing what I had to do to make my goal for the year. I was way behind. Now, however, I've had the third-best month of the year so far, and my fifth consecutive week of writing more than 5,000 words.

Even though I had a slightly slower week than the past three weeks, this was still the fourth consecutive week I've written more than 5,000 words. It’s been a bit since I considered what I do when I’m not (and to be honest, most often when I am1) writing. I feel like I have been entertaining myself with electronic devices and non-electric devices most of my life. My generation (Generation X) straddled the line between the world before and after the Internet. I grew up without any exposure to life online, but I’ve spent more of my life online than offline.

It's already November? Last month just flew by, but thank goodness we finally have fall weather in Iowa. I remember a year ago still waking up to 80 degree afternoons and wondering if I'd ever feel cool again. However, it feels lovely outside now. This month, I'm going to discuss a big change with my writing focus that happened this past weekend, some thank yous go out to some great hosts of author events over the past month or so, as well as all the normal odds and ends.
