Once again, I bestow a cosmic Yawp to the universe that she and I have the same sized hands.

Labor Day Time Machine dispatch from Flint, MI. "We'll see if they can get through 10,000 men," says UAW Regional Director Jack Holt. Can anybody guess what book this is from? Clue, the title is in the paragraph.

@beckychb013.bsky.social Hey look at my daughter's book project. She's manifesting the novel becoming a movie. After the buckets of cash start rolling in, you can give her a big tip. Or put her in the movie.

I have always been, and will forever be, proud of the fact that Lily Tomlin and I have the same sized hands.

Dad selfie from union camp. (some squares call it the IFT Great Lakes Union Leadership Institute, not cool kids like me). Took the grievance class and now I wanna write grievances against everybody. Wanna grieve your Dean-hit me up. Wanna grieve your kid-hit me up. Endless possibilities.

As my son and have often said to each other over the years,I wouldn't want to live somewhere that wasn't within walking distance of a mummified cat.

It's a little known fact that Benjamin Franklin spent a semester at UM Flint. Here a unequivocally, meta physically, historically accurate recreation of his time there.

This is a picture of me when I signed my union card. We were recognized as the Union for Tenure Track Faculty one year ago. Now nearly a year later we have a tentative agreement for our FIRST CONTRACT. Of course, as grievance chair, now the real work begins for me

On that topic--happening at UMich A2 this Thursday.

Hey UMich labor supporters, Michigan labor supporters and general labor supporters. Wanna hear some really important, articulate, powerful speakers, and me, talk about labor at UMich?

Good turnout for our rally in support of our contract campaign yesterday. I got the good dad selfie (a unique aesthetic genre of self photography that I have invented and will soon be sweeping the globe)

Hey University of Michigan union supporters, Michigan union supporters, Michiganders, or union supporters (international travelers will definitely get at least 2 BEERS on me) come to downtown Flint for this rally tomorrow. Our admin is acting like jerks, so we need to have a good showing!!

Hey University of Michigan, general Michigan, or just general people--sign our petition to support our contract campaign!! docs.google.com/document/d/1...

Gessen's focus on university leaders and her convenient pessimism about coordinated action is completely expected. Even the most "sympathetic" thought leaders continue to be mired in their elitist myopia. We can win--don't believe the hype. www.organizeeverycampus.org

Many have noted the illegalities in this-but that's not the point. It's a signal to states, and more importantly Uni. admins that the feds won't intervene when they repress protests. It's an invitation to unleash the id of every assistant dean who dreams of punishing those ungrateful students.

Because this card only envisions a "red" state, and thus an incomplete social democratic revolution, and not the preferred communist goal of the state withering away, I had to give it a B-.

I'm no classicist so I don't know if this is true, but according to HBO's Rome, Cesare painted his face red during his triumph. What is is with populist dictators and their painted red faces?

Graber's "Democracy Project" is great on the origin of Occupy and has a really good explanation of consensus--If you haven't read it. Also, Here's a cool picture of Occupy Flint, it lasted way longer than most other encampments, until Feb. 2012 at least. We had quite a time.
