Low-wage healthcare worker in Australia. Struggling to hold down any job.

Formerly a maritime engineer. Worked for a US firm during Trump's first term, which ruined my life.

Will post: Ships/defence, healthy things, sensible auspol, integrity/fairness.
Pilot on his phone while entering port, but wind a big factor: max allowable (20kn) when they entered then unexpected wind increase as they arrive. See the video and ATSB report.

Glad to hear that Leeuwin II is sailing again.

Nearing peak wattle. The coastal breeze has already blown some away, but still yellow.

I nearly brushed up against this in a parking lot today.

Went to the beach to mark my favourite day of the year. When the days get warmer and feel longer. The first flowers blooming. The shift from Djilba to Kambarang as the locals call it. The beginning of Spring.

Picture from today in Boorloo (Perth). A bit of ironic juxtaposition here. Hope we can end the food blockade in #Gaza and feed the kids of #Palestine.

52 years ago S.S. Wilson's article "Bicycle Technology" based on data from VA Tucker's article "Energetic cost of locomotion in animals" included this graph. Surprised it wasn't in this article. I wonder how much the numbers have changed since then.

Recently took 'The Deathtrap' out for a range test.

She was built with mostly scrap and around $200 of used electrics.

17km before it gave me a low battery warning. Spent most of that time at ~40kmph. Not bad.

Young man borrows car, avoids damaging it, cleans and fills it up when he's done.

A dolphin very close in shore. Looks like he was rounding up some lunch. Koombana Bay.

Big TV is glowing across Mounts Bay tonight. Probably the most seen billboard in all of WA.

This is what it looks like when you add everything up. Gives the facade that something was achieved.

A little gift from an activist for the homeless in Bunbury. It's a little gingerbread house - how appropriate.

Secret Santa gave me something. While I appreciate the advice, I don't think I'll be drinking this neat or on the rocks.

Imagine planning 20yrs of logging in 2004 just so you can say "Nah" and claim you saved the forest in 2024.
