On Thursday I captured this 3 hour time lapse of the Sun’s limb, using a hydrogen-alpha filter on the 138 year old Francis DuPont telescope at Mt. Cuba Observatory in Delaware. The Sun has reached peak activeness as part of an 11 year cycle. Here we can see gigantic solar prominences on the surface.
