As someone who is a maniac for taking photos I have literally dozens and dozens of photos of plots of vines around here that are now just bare fields of weeds. It makes me so sad

Although cold, the golden winter light was so beautiful yesterday I decided to walk in the hills above a nearby village, looking down over the sea. Today I have been inundated with property adverts in said village. ☹️ Google knows everything.

This is the season when, if you listen carefully, you can hear the mating call of the migratory ouic-ouic bird. And if you're lucky you may even get a flash of its red plumage as it advances along the rows of vines leaving a trail of leaves behind. Listen ✂️✂️ there it goes: ouic-ouic, ouic-ouic.

Having enjoyed its older brother Maximus, I decided to try little Romulus from Chateau Camplazens in La Clape on one of the highest points of this rocky outcrop overlooking the Mediterranean. Went very well with the rare gigot and 30 month Conté.

They do a lovely tribute to him, with his paintings placed around the town in places where he would have painted them. Also please enjoy this lovely statue overlooking the sea by the Vauban fort
