The Tenerife Cabildo has put the island on emergency footing for the coming borrasca Emilia, expected to bring extremely heavy rain, strong winds, and wild seas with huge swell. It's an administrative coordination plan, so not a tabloidy "red alert", but they're expecting something significant ...

As I was saying ... following a train of thought today I found what I've copied here, an AI result that is not only completely wrong, but which is also contradicted by the very first, and relatively authoritative, result it provides below its "overview" ...

AI is not just useless, it is dangerous.

Here is the official notice from Aemet about Borrasca Emilia. Stay away from the coast if you value your life ... and I don't care how hyperbolic that sounds after 8 deaths in the sea here in the last few weeks alone.
December 11, 2025 at 2:31 PM
It's a borrasca that will cause these wild seas, coming into the area between the mainland and the Canaries tomorrow. It's a significant storm that Aemet has named Emillia.

Unprepared people, and fools, die in these conditions. Don't be either.

Wild wild seas this weekend. Orange alert everywhere. Conditions that have killed repeatedly. Avoid the sea in the Canaries, and the coast really, over the next few days if you don't want to be swept away, that is. With an alert in place, the regional Government charges for rescue or body recovery.

Only 5 days left but the annual Guía de Isora social services campaign is well underway to give presents to local children who might otherwise be without anything. Just contact the council and you'll get a letter from a child asking for a dream ...

8 dead in a month because people go in the water when they shouldn't, most when alerts are in place. See these links and the alert image for the next few days if you want to survive the sea here. If not, fine, they charge for body recoveries.

The moment you think Sepp Blatter really wasn't so bloody ghastly and had at least some idea he should pretend he had some dignity, that's the moment you see it for what it is, little boys playing games, just like Lord of the Flies. But the UK doesn't have much of a navy now to save us all ...

Given tat at every turn, especially at Christmas markets, I have to say that if you have the chance to go to the Feria de Artesanía in the Recinto Ferial in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, go!

Superb craftsmanship from recognized crafters, no tat, ceramics to leather to wood to clothing. Just fabulous.

She supported the nomination for my own MBE so it was only appropriate I did the same for her BEM for exceptional services to British and others in Tenerife. I had the last honour from the old Queen in Tenerife and she has the first from the new King! Congratulations @clioflynn.bsky.social

As the article ends, the "ignorance — often proud ignorance — of the far-right is not just funny, it is very, very dangerous."

And despite the UK's best efforts it does seem that the US leads the world in dangerous ignorance, indeed it's loud and proud.

I see gammon widely outraged at Tesco selling "non-Christian *evergreen* trees". It's all English apparently, the lot of it. Christ's birth, Yul, decorated Weinachtsbaúme, Lebkuchen ...

Born in a manger in a stable ... where? Portsmouth?

White English men of a certain disposition ... uff ...

Seen it too many places to attribute now ...

and consider Truss, Johnson, the Mail, Farage, the Telegraph, Trump ... all proven brazen liars, all calling for truth, and so you know it's the last thing they really really want ...

As we've seen all too many times, they just want to please the face in front of them ...

We have a costeros alert and today a man drowned after being swept into the sea from a rock pool in La Guancha, another is dead and nine others injured, three critically, after being swept into the sea at Puerto de La Cruz harbour, and someone was discovered floating in the sea off the ...

They call it the Rambo House because a scene of one of the films was filmed there, and apparently Pope Benedict 16 or whichever number stayed there once. It's on the market ... around €5,000,000. Not remotely my style but it's spectacular! ...

There's a transcript in the link below. What a fascinating read! Nice people don't go nazi. Those who do, it's not race, colour, religion, social condition. "It is something in them".

Something very unpleasant.

A new temperature record has been set in the Canaries for November. Tenerife North airport registered 33º yesterday, a full 2º above the previous 31º, a 1998 outlier. Once this starts going up, I read, it's going to go very quickly.

33º in November. A leap to a full 2º above the previous record. 🌡️

Can someone introduce Mr Brain to the concept of certain pyschological basics needing to be in place before people can start aspiring to irrelevancies like safety, love, belonging ... let alone aspirational dreams of enough wages to buy a loaf of bread ...

Are you meant to be intimidated when you're followed by the Department of Homeland Security, Kristy Noem personally no less, seconds after posting a comment on US food stamp card locking compared with Trump's new marble Lincolm bathroom? Just wondering, not intimidated ... 🤷‍♀️
November 1, 2025 at 2:44 PM
SNAP cards, as I understand it, are for the very poorest. Those who can't even use foodbanks and so have government food stamps credited to a card. A card that's now locked.

But look! new marble Lincolm bathroom.

It's all going to blow at some point. Surely. But by then it will be far too late.
