Allotments make high density housing more effective. More people will take a flat with no garden if they can get an allotment nearby.

Cost is driven by land prices. Well planned large extensions with new facilities can avoid crazy high lands prices... If they are planned right

We need planners to actually plan, that doesn't preclude lots of new homes - in fact it helps as it avoids objections

For sure, but start with the money locally & the government takes + redistributes. Rather than central first then out according to whim.
