Just a reminder: Alexandr Wang, the boss of Scale AI, was rewarded for his accomplishments in exploitation by being named Meta’s Chief AI Officer
“Scale AI’s own labor practices are horrid enough. But AFP reports that one Scale AI subsidiary, Remotasks, is taking it a step further: paying data labelers roughly one US cent for every task they finish, which can take hours. It’s a system Kanyugi compared to ‘modern slavery.’”

Jesus christ almighty. "Vibe working" is now a thing, Microsoft has decided. The sort of thing a first year consultant could do, they say. And how many senior consultants needed to correct their slop afterwards? Via @ketanjoshi.co www.theverge.com/news/787076/...

Just because they got caught letting a teenager die, they’re copying Apple & Google’s parental control mechanism and crossing their fingers. They knew that in the last death, ChatGPT said "suicide" 6x more than the teen. They did nothing then. Why should they change now?

Electric vehicles are now 50% of new car sales in China -this was achieved organically, ahead of state objectives - and that figure is now at 60% in Thailand, 70% in Nepal & other developing countries. Why? Because they’re finally cheaper now. Hope at last 🙏🏻

This French economist, @gabrielzucman.bsky.social, is suggesting we tax the ultra-rich (those 1800 households with over €100m in revenues) 2% on those revenues, to generate c. €20bn for the state. Why? France’s 500 biggest fortunes = 42% of its GDP today, vs 6.4% in 1996. Sounds simple, no?
