I don't think politicians have got more stupid. I think we have changed what we ask of them. And - may have posted this before - it's pretty much nailed here (30+ years ago)

Oh you can. In around 2006 I went to the barber near my office in clerkenwell and asked for a short-back-and-sides and WITHOUT ASKING was given a Hoxton Fin.
