The image features one of Bierstadt’s majestic wilderness landscapes of the American West. In the lower left corner we have a party of explorers resting overnight.

Ah, yeah. Today’s ArtDrop is ‘Fire Alight’ from 1936, an oil painting by Stanley Spencer.

The image shows a closeup of a blazing fireplace. The fittings of the hearth surround look like antique ornamental ironwork. Directly in front of the raging fire is a music stand.

In this image we see a family in 1920’s fashion in a comfortable parlor decorating their fireplace for Xmas. A cat naps on top of a wingback chair as a boy hands his mom an ornament.

Thanksgiving’s ArtDrop is a Romantic oil painting from 1820 ‘Belshazzar’s Feast’ by John Martin. This painting lives at Yale University’s Center for British Art. I want to go visit it.

This painting looks like a fantasy architectural rendering from an epic video game.
