That really sunk in for me this year after seeing Jennifer English’s emotional acceptance speech. Like it must feel shitty to win a high profile award but not even get to show your face and say a few words about it, and then have the show quickly move on as if it’s less important than other awards.

The Mummy Demastered is a Metroidvania game made to tie-in with the awful 2017 “Dark Universe” reboot of The Mummy. Similar to the new Terminator game, it is a pixel-art game, and while it’s nothing extraordinary, it is known for being better than the movie it’s based on.

It’s also funny because I remember right after the first trailer dropped, someone remarked that the fans would just edit Sonic’s game design into the full movie, but then Sonic’s design was fixed officially and now fans are doing the exact opposite.

It also has Raul Julia, which is not a privilege the rest of the movies on that list have.

This isn’t just about Netflix’s open hostility to the theatrical experience, it’s that they literally dumb down their movies and shows to placate to algorithms and people who exclusively play Netflix in the background while they do something else.
