Here's the depressing Bengals cap update
tl;dr: inflated y1 cap hits to squeeze 2025 cap space way more than necessary, "preventing" themselves from going after moderate veteran deals that could have helped them push the roster

Can't update #Bengals cap for Chase's contract yet, but here's an update with available info for Tee & Ja'Marr and the cap hit updated for Tee
Lots of cap, enough cash for a few moves within their projected budget. If they extend Trey, tighter for cash unless they're gonna spend more than normal.

The Bengals free agency tier list and tracker we work on every year will be out soon.
I'm tracking current cap space and expected cash spend for the Bengals in the sheet as well, including some expenses not accounted for by the usual suspects.

Spent some time managing the Bengals' cap this offseason with Joe Goodberry, you sure can do a lot with this team's financial resources

Time for another look at the Bengals cap outlook
Assuming the Bengals extend/sign:
- Tee (4yr, 28M APY)
- Chase (4yr, 35M, maybe needs to be higher)
- Hendrickson (2yr, 26.5M)
In 2025 they'd have $87M in space with 52 players rostered.

That's a big assumption on Trey imo! We talked about this on the podcast today too - there's another quote that seems to me to pertain to Hendrickson, and that Tobin acknowledged that Trey has earned more years and money is probably as far as he feels he can go. He's under contract in 2025.

Dan Hoard did a great job interviewing new Bengals OL coach Scott Peters on the Bengals Booth podcast covering a lot of the questions I would have asked, worth your listen!

Turns out the Bengals did not do enough to tempt Payton to abandon the run

Turns out the Bengals did not do enough to tempt Payton to abandon the run
From Ian Haritz on Twitter, a look at RB avoidance of negative runs and explosive run rate
Chase Brown pretty good in both categories!
Run game is not a big part of their offense/identity, but it could be, they have a good piece at RB at least
