Rest in peace to Submariner LT James Earl Carter Jr, USN (Ret). Carter, the only U.S. President to graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy, leaves a legacy of service. The USS Jimmy Carter (SSN-23), a Seawolf-class fast-attack submarine, carries his name in honor of his dedication to our nation.

One of my sweet 9th grade students made me this beautiful quilted pencil case over the weekend. (Sewed a zipper in and everything!) It made my Monday. She knows I love pink and flowers. 🩷🌸🩷

I had my 9th graders write Thank You notes to people in our school community today as an exercise in gratitude. In the last class of the day, a lovely girl gave me this. It made my day to read all of them and my colleagues were touched by the ones they received. Will repeat this lesson next year.
