Note the modification made to the southern line to run underneath BWI. There would have been an underground station at the airport! High frequency service to there and Glen Burnie on one line would have been much better than the current light rail's branching resulting in 30 min headways per branch.

Had the entirety of Phase 1 of the original Baltimore Metro been built, (Mostly what exists today + a line to Glen Burnie via BWI) the chances of expanding the system would have been greater. A direct rapid transit connection to BWI from city center probably would have taken just under 20 min.
