Schools are like football teams: Everyone has a role, & every role freakin’ matters!

Can’t win with just a QB…it takes the whole squad. Same with schools: teachers, ESPs, counselors, admins…all are key to student success. We must support the whole dang team! 💪

However, every statewide elected official already gets triple digits, so I find it extremely out of touch to raise their pay, especially with so many Oklahomans struggling to just survive.

Many folks believe state representatives and senators make triple figures, but we don’t. We get $47,500 per year + mileage,& if we live more than 50 miles away from the Cap, we get a stipend of $174 per day during session. I recognize that’s great compensation, but it’s not triple digits.

I remember “transition” back when I was a little Rosecrants (think it was after K or 1st grade 🤷‍♂️) where some kids got extra time to grow academically & socially. I maybe could support that statewide (w/ funding + interventions) over a 3rd-grade retention test. Thoughts?

My opposition to this 3rd grade retention test (I derogatorily call it the 3rd grade “flunk” test) is because the test creates a bottleneck (& stress for student & teacher) & 3rd grade is much too late. So if we’re gonna talk retention at all, wouldn’t earlier be better?

We need to worry less about what some Dems agreed to in the deal & ask: What’s the Republican plan to avert this crisis? Concepts of a plan doesn’t count! We really should just guarantee healthcare for everyone, like most every other country already does, but here we are.

While I’m hopeful we will reopen the govt, I’m frustrated this deal only delays a healthcare reckoning. A coming vote on extending the enhanced ACA subsidies’ll show who’s for or against keeping healthcare affordable, but if the vote fails, millions could lose coverage.

Note: No ACA subsidy extension in the deal, just a promise of a vote. So while we’ll see who’s against lowering healthcare costs *ON RECORD*, this 💩 feel weak. I’m torn: Glad the govt’s reopening, but not sure I’d vote yes on this if I were in the Senate. What say y’all?

…why not do what most of the 🌍 does? Provide universal healthcare coverage (in 🇺🇸 that means Medicare for all)? It 🤯 that we keep kowtowing to Big Insurance instead of guaranteeing care for all! Just look at this eye-opening map of countries & their healthcare! 👀 ⬇️
